The ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE Mission Operations Leadership Team

The ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE Mission Operations Leadership Team consists of seasoned professionals and leaders who specialize in the fields of Aviation, Medicine, Medevac, Emergency Medical Services, Incident Command, Healthcare System Development, Information Technology, Infrastructure Development and Cultural Support. The Leadership Team coordinates all mission operations based upon the risk-stratified needs of the populace served through dedicated partnership and collaboration.

Jean Francois Hibbert, MD
Medical Operations Officer

Dr. Jean Francois Hibbert, MD completed his secondary education with the Jesuits at Loyola HIgh School in Montreal where he was educated in the vocation of serving others. He finished his Bachelor of Arts degree at Brown University and completed his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts. He attended the residency program at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut and is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. Jean's interest in Haiti spans most of his professional life. He has volunteered his time and skills to provide medical care to those in need and has a commitment and dedication to building sustainable economic and public health infrastructure in Haiti in partnership with the medical providers. He has served in director-level positions in Emergency Care and has focused in providing care and promoting continuing medical education for EMS providers in rural areas. Jean's leadership as Chief Medical Officer is integral to building bonds of trust and synergy with the regional Haitian clinicians and prioritizing medical supplies and needs for the ongoing missions.

Charles Atwell, BS, NREMT-P
EMS Operations Officer

Charles "Chuck" Atwell received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from Cornell University. Chuck's primary background is in emergency medical services. He has over 19 years of EMS experience in both supervisory and clinical roles, with over 15 years as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic. Chuck's work in grant writing, coupled with his vision for creating a standardized EMS response service in Les Cayes, Haiti, and the surrounding areas are key components in 'Operation Haitian Alliance'. Chuck is an aviator and serves as the primary Flight Mission Controller, coordinating all tracking and logistical support for the flight missions to ensure completion and safety of the team members.

Dr. John Bertolini, MD, FACEP
EMS Operations Officer

Dr. John Bertolini serves in the Medical Corps of ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE as a physician leader and frontline field provider. Dr. Bertolini received his undergraduate degree at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. He completed his internship in general surgery at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital and his residency in emergency medicine at the Georgetown/George Washingtion University combined program in Washington D.C. Dr. Bertolini served as a physician with the United States Air Force, is a diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is a member of both the New York and New Jersey chapters of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Physician Executives.

Kristen Daniels, PA-C, MS-PAS


Kristen Daniels, PA-C, serves as a Physician Assistant leader in the ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE Medical Corps. Kristen earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Studies and Biology from Gettysburg College. She completed her medical training at DeSales University Physician Assistant Program in Lehigh Valley, PA. Kristen has worked in Emergency Medicine for more than five years, and has also practiced and taught holistic medicine and yoga. Kristen has had a life-long interest in medicine and community service, and has had the privilege of performing volunteer medical work in the US, Nepal, and Haiti. She believes strongly that all people and especially men, women and children living in extreme poverty and disparity have a right to wellness that can be achieved through education, service, and fearless compassion.

Daniel Desmond


Dan serves as a Cultural and Linguistic Specialist with ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE. Dan was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. He studied flute performance at D'Angelo school of music Mercyhurst College, in Erie, PA. After an accident that severed nerves in his hand, Dan changed his profession from music to healthcare. Dan joined the Mennonite Central Committee based in Akron, PA where he worked as a Volunteer Service Worker. Dan was sent to Little Haiti in Miami, FL where he worked at Center for Haitian Studies as a HIV case manager from 1994 to 1998. This is where he first learned about Haitian culture and became fluent in Haitian Creole. Dan actively trains members of the ARCHANGEL AIRBORNE team and has also trained members of the U.S. military prior to deployment to Haiti in the culture, history and current political climate of the country. Dan is also an avid aviator with a Private Pilot rating.
